NOMADIC ART RETREAT Residency in Iceland

A 10-day residency for visual artists will be held in the Nomadic center of Iceland, focusing on connection with nature, shared dialogue, and inspiration.

According to Gallery Online, this program offers an intimate, curated experience in a special location in Iceland (Laugarvatn), bringing participants together in a calm and mindful environment.

Program includes:

    Immersion in nature (waterfalls, lava fields, hidden mountains)

    Learning about Icelandic geology

    Visits to local galleries and artist studios

    Sound walks and sensory exploration

    Rest time and geothermal spas

    Shared meals and collective gatherings

    Individual mentoring sessions, group discussions, and participation in the Artist Talks at LÁ Art Museum in Hveragerði

Fields & Eligibility:

Fields: Visual arts, sound, movement, performance, writing, installation, and interdisciplinary practices

    Open to individual artists and artist duos
    Open to emerging and established artists
    Age: 21+
    No specific project or final outcome is required

Location:
Laugarvatn – located in the heart of the famous Golden Circle, 70 km from Reykjavík, with access to Iceland’s major natural attractions. Accommodation at the historic Héraðsskólinn guesthouse with lake or mountain views.

Dates:
13–22 November 2025 (10 days / 9 nights)
Group size: Limited to 7 artists

Flight costs are not included. Selected participants must pay the fee upon signing the contract.
