Sony Future Filmmaker Awards, a major program providing exceptional opportunities for creators and filmmakers, is open for submissions for 2024.
Free to enter, the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards elevate the original voices that bring a fresh perspective to storytelling.
The shortlisted filmmakers are flown to Los Angeles for an exclusive four-day event to gain unparalleled insight into all aspects of the filmmaking process to advance their careers. After a black-tie awards ceremony at the Cary Grant Theatre, the 30 successful filmmakers benefit from a four-day workshop program.
The Awards are aimed at breakthrough artists and independent filmmakers worldwide.
The competition includes a total of six categories:
- Fiction
- Non-Fiction
- Environment
- Animation (New)
- Student
- Future Format
Each category awards a winner and a shortlist of up to five.
New elements for this year’s edition include the Animation category. Introduced to embrace filmmakers using stop-motion, motion graphics, computer animation, drawn-on-film, rotoscoping and experimental animation (plus all of the other animation techniques available), entries to this brand new category can be between 2 to 20 minutes in length.
Established by Creo and sponsored by Sony, the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards is a major new annual awards program for short films devoted to supporting and elevating independent filmmakers and creators from across the globe.
